Here follows a statement by the Royal Office:
"Following the appointment by HM King Mohammed VI, on Nov. 19 of Chakib Benmoussa as president of the Special Committee on the Model of Development, the Sovereign appointed today the members of the said body.
In addition to the President, the Committee is composed of 35 members with diverse academic and professional backgrounds and an important knowledge of Moroccan society and political, economic, social, cultural and environmental issues. The Committee mobilizes Moroccan competences working both in Morocco and abroad, active and engaged in the public, private or civil society sectors.
In accordance with the Royal Instructions, the Committee will start, swiftly, frankly, audaciously and objectively, examining the situation in the light of the Kingdom's achievements, reforms, citizens' expectations, and current international context as well as its future developments. It will submit to HM the King's evaluation, by next summer, the major desirable re-orientations and concrete initiatives in order to adapt the model of development.
Throughout its mission, the Committee will work within the framework of a participatory and inclusive approach to promote a larger involvement."
